HSBC – art display

To coincide with their sponsoring of the China Design Now exhibition at the V&A museum in London, HSBC commissioned 2LK Design to design a modular, portable display to be installed at various locations in the UK during the exhibition including the ground floor foyer at HSBC’s headquarters at Canary Wharf.

The display’s primary purpose was to display a piece of artwork from a key contributing high profile artist to the show – an intricate, extremely fragile and valuable piece of artwork created using a traditional Chinese papercutting technique but using modern images and messages.

A core requirement was for the whole display to be viewed from front and back as well as from outside the building and to reflect the theme of the show – neon. 2LK specified edge-lit coloured perspex and internally lit the unit to provide a practical, modular and cost-effective alternative to neon lighting which matched the brief perfectly.
